Dermal Fillers...Why so many?

As with most things in medicine, product lines follow demand. When the FDA first approved non animal derived hyaluronic acid dermal fillers such as Restylane, Radiesse, Perlane and Scuptra, demand skyrocketed.
In a rush to capture market share, numerous brands surfaced for physicians to consider.
One characteristic all strived to improve upon is the time each lasted once injected under the skin. The body naturally absorbs hyaluronic acid which effects the amount of time patients see results. In reaction to this physical reaction, most companies stabilized thier fillers as best as possible.
In most cases, the fillers one physician offers over another boils down to a matter of personal comfort and choice on behalf of the physician. Most patients can be assured that the filler of choice in any setting is safe and the practicing physician has had good luck with it in the past.
In all cases, be sure dermal fillers are FDA approved.
